Combining lecture, audio-visual demonstrations, and open discussion, the emphasis in this class will be on planning a rail trip, both as individuals and as a class.  We'll be using available resources such as the telephone, internet, time-tables and other publications to locate available options for routing, destinations, stop-overs, discounts, accommodations, and estimating costs. The internet will be used to gather information, make reservations, and (importantly) how to change them.  Tips will be offered on what to pack and how to pack it; what are reasonable expectations for traveling with Amtrak, and how to take advantage of the Amtrak Rewards program.  We hope to plan a one-day trip to the Chihuly Glass Museum in Tacoma following the end of this course.
