Wednesday mornings at the ASC, 10am to noon, we welcome one of our new instructors, Fred Dust, who will be teaching us an intensely interesting course on Local Oceanography. Serious science buffs take note. A survey of ocean chemistry and physics (lab work included) will prepare us for discussions on atmospheric and oceanographic circulation, classical physical oceanography, and coastal processes. We'll review our marine resources and related environmental issues facing this region. Our first class will be concerned with the chemistry of water & we'll end by considering marine pollution and habitat destruction in both the Columbia River and Willapa Estuary. That should give us plenty to think about. As the weather warms, we hope to include at least a few field trips to local study spots to put our lessons into practice. Get out your waders and join us.
